Diffusion coefficients of manganese in molten Fe-C alloy (carbon-saturated) were determined between 1,200 and 1,600℃ with the following results : The experimental results were expressed by the following relation : logD=1.55-2.12×10^3/T or D(cm^2/day)=35.8exp(-4.88×10^3/T). That is, diffusion coefficient D between 1,250 and 1,600℃ was 1.5~3.0×10^ cm^2/sec ; D increased with the rise in temperature, the temperature change being considerably small ; the activation energy was about 9,700cal/g・atom. D was nearly constant up to 70 per cent manganese. The changes in the concentration of carbon as the diffusion of manganese proceeded could not be observed with accuracy in the present experiment
