HOSPITAL TWINS - MALES ' Two sets of male twins were born in the Magrath Municipal Hospital recently. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Dudley (the former Diane Dahl) of Fort Macleod, proud parents of sons bom April 19th. Mr. and Mrs* Sam Mikado, Ifegrath, proud parents of sons bom April 21st. During the same weekend twin sons were bom to Mr. and Mrs. Ron Peterson of Edmonton, Mrs. Peterson the former Nurae barren, daughter of Mr, Harold Karren, formerly of Magrath. At Twin River during the storm, the-ewe band drifted, and lodged against a woven wire fence. While the two men were at lunch, some dozen ewes had lambs, mostly twins. The mothers and lambs were all in a huddle, crowded together. We hadn’t seen such a mix-up in years. The wagon standing by was divided into compartments, ready to haul them to the lambing sheds, the mother with her own offspring in each stall. First one ewe and then another withdrew with het progeny, were caught and put in the wagon separately. One little lamb was not claimed* It would be given to a ewe who had lost her lamb said the driver. . ' At the maternity hospital, so we are told, babies* twins or singles, are all tagged, ear marked and branded for identification! In a band of a thousand ewes with as many lambs) each ewe knows her own and both lambs, if twins* have to be present at nursing time before one can help himsalf. • • • • I 4 4 ♦ A • • • 4 4 • • 4 i • • • Mother’s Day was observed in the Magrath.First Ward Church Sunday morning when Tyler Alston took charge of the program. Talks were given by Jill Harker, Norman Robinson, i Shirley Johnson and Wayne Harris, The Juhior Sunday School'sang three chordses each honor­ing Mother and a vocal quartet was rendered by Janice. Flowering plants were presented to each mother present. In the Magrath Second Ward Church Russel Blumell took charge of the Mother’s Day pro­gram. Opening song was ’’There Is Beauty AU Around When There Is Love At Home'1 followed by introductions by Mr. Blumell, Program numbers included the Junior Sunday School sink­ing tributes to Mother directed by Shirley Gibb; Monte Thomson told’’Why I Am Proud Of My Mother” and Janet Dudley "What I Owe To Mother”. Janine Blumell gave a musical reading accompanied by Linda Blumell, Talk by a Mother was given by Mrs, Betty Briggs; a vocal duet "That Wonderful Mother Of Mine" by Mrs, Inez Gibb and Mr, Byng Bearer. Corsages'' were presented to Mrs. Danny Reader, Calgary, the youngest mother present, Mrs. Davies, the oldest mother present, Mrs, Woodruff, Rosemary, the mother with the most children pre­sent. Carnations were presented to all the remaining mothers. Patients in the Magrath Municipal Hospital during the past wefek included Mr, Toih Erick­son, 'Mr. York Kado, Mrs; Crhistie Harker, Mrs. Lillian Sheridan, Mrs. Emily'Meyer, Mr. Joe Popp, Charlotte Schmunk, Mr, George Coleman, Leonard Big Head, Brian Houton, Mrs. Ina Blax- all, Mrs. Helen Bingham, Robert Blumell. Mr. J. L, Hawkey of Oakville, Ontario is visiting with friends and relatives in Mag­rath, including his father-in-law Mr. Emil Ehlert. The bride wore a gown of white Chantilly lace over satin. A crown of crystals and pearls held her shoulder length veil'and she car­ried a bouquet of pink roses and white mums. Mr. and Mrs. Blair Sabey and Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Thompson greeted the guests« In the receiving line with the bride and groom were his parents, Mr« and Mrs. John Moors, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rollingson and Mrs. Mary Jane De­war. Displaying the gifts were Mrs, Eleanor Finch and Mrs« Ida Taylor and Miss Linda Rollingson was in charge of the guest book. Friends will be interested to know that several students from Magrath have completed a year of schooling at Lethbridge Junior College. A graduation banquet, dance and formal exercises were held recently. Speakers at the Commencement included Dean W.F. Cousins, Director J.R. Twa, Principal C.B. Johnson, Principal from Institute of Technology at Cal­gary F.C. Jorgenson and Principal of University of Alberta Dr. Malcolm G. Taylor, Follow­ing the program light refreshments were served to the many people in attendance. Students receiving recognition at the exercises included Joan Christensen, Shirley Gibb, Cheryl Ririe, Joanne Wilde, Norma Zobell, Blair Meldrum, John Sheer and Dennis Arndt.
