Returning players, Connor Kenney, Mitchell Maxwell, Chase Helgeson and Macki Helgeson were in fine leadership form. The rookies of the team, Shane Eyre, Nigel Atwood, Tyson Hudson, Devin Millward, Derek Hope, Cody Foggin,Matt MacLennan and Russell , Tricsli certainly made a great contribution to the game. Just about everyone scored or assisted in the might victory over the visiting Coaldale team Connor ¡ Kenney was stellar in goal as he only let a few shots by. They are off to a great start with plenty more victories in store. Their next game is a league game slated for Sat. Nov. 6th at 9:15. They will be hosting the visiting Great Falls team. The purpose of the year is to foster awareness of the importance of seniors' roles in society. We would like to help the community be more aware of the seniors living at the Terrace. We will be featuring two of our residents weekly, so that you may become better acquainted with them. This week we salute: Avilda Coleman Avilda was born & raised in Magrath, the eldest child of John & Alvira Bridge. Avilda has two sisters & two brothers. Avilda married Duane Harker, to them were born five children, three sons & two daughters(she has 16 grandchildren & 29 great grandchildren). "Duane's Electric" & also Magrath "Park Theatre", were owned & operated by Duane with the help of his family, until the time of his death in 1962. With the help of family members, Avilda carried on the businesses as best she could, because of the new type of entertainment "television", the movie business was ruined in Magrath. During her life Avilda has enjoyed participating in church & community activities, she was Magrath's 1st Museum president, a task that lasted 10 years. Best of all, she enjoys being in the company of her family & friends. In 1965, Garth & Avilda were married, in 1997 they moved into the Diamond Willow Terrace, the place they now call home. Now they have grown old, they still try to keep healthy & happy, often feeling they need you who are still young, hopefully need some of them who are old. They want your friendship "Margaret Willour" has said "Never loose sight of the fact, that old age needs so little, but needs that little so much" As citizens of Magrath, we each feel our best when we become involved in helping to make each other happy. We have grown to really love Avilda. She is so willing to help in any area she can. Avilda has a very nice singing voice (I can hear her during our sing-a-longs) We are very lucky to have Avilda live at the Terrace. Garth Coleman is the eldest child of George & Violet Coleman, he has twin brothers & one sister. They lived on a farm west of Magrath, Garth rode a horse to town in his early schooling, then when his sister was of age to go to school, they travelled in with horse & buggy. In high school Garth was a member of the basketball team, he has always enjoyed sports. Tn 1938 Garth and Adell Gurney were married. To them were born two girls & two boys. During war time, Garth spent one year in the Canadian army. It was always a happy time when he could go home to his young family. After Garth returned home to stay, he clerked in the "Magrath Trading Co". Later he became road foreman for the Municipal District of Cardston in 1959. In 1963 his wife Adell passed away causing a sorrowful time for Garth and his four children. Garth has been active in church and community organizations through the years, enjoying curling, hunting, fishing & golf. In 1965 Garth & Avilda Harker were married. During these 86 years, Garth is aware of the many changes & improvements that have taken place over the years in our "Magrath". It is with pride he realizes the younger generation is carrying on with ambition & faith in the future, not being satisfied with mere mediocrity. Garth enjoys his bingo at the Terrace & enjoys watching TV, especially the Discovery Channel. Garth.
