Historia de vida en la Estepa Patagónica. Mujeres rurales, trabajo y organización colectiva

This purpose of this paper is to analyze the role of rural women in the organization and creation of collective participation spaces, not only as a way of earning a living that may improve the living conditions of small family farmers but also as a way of resisting the territorial expulsion and the loss of their socio – cultural identity. To achieve this purpose, the paper analyzes a case study: The Steppe Crafts Market, an example of Supportive and Social Economy, which is located in the Pilcaniyeu Department,provinceofRio Negro. The analysis is based on the life-storytelling technique, starting from a thorough interview of one rural craftswoman. The results allow for understanding the way in which women create a working space and a income source that tend to the social reproduction of the household unit, combining production and reproduction and, at the same time, increasing self – esteem, the re-appraisal of their own culture and ancestral knowledge, the motivation for training in the craftsmanship art, in issues related to social and family economy, and in communal participation, among others. El trabajo pretende analizar la participación de las mujeres rurales en la organización y construcción de espacios de acción colectiva no sólo como forma de obtención de ingresos que mejoren las condiciones de vida de los pequeños productores familiares, sino también como una forma de resistencia a la expulsión territorial y a la pérdida de identidad sociocultural. Para ello se toma un caso especial: el Mercado Artesanal La Estepa, ejemplo de Economía Social y Solidaria, ubicado en el departamento Pilcaniyeu, provincia de Río Negro. La perspectiva analítica se basa en la técnica de historia de vida, a partir de la entrevista en profundidad a una artesana rural. Los hallazgos permiten comprender cómo la mujer construye un espacio de trabajo y de generación de ingresos tendiente a la reproducción social de la unidad doméstica, uniendo producción y reproducción, y al mismo tiempo permite aumentar la autoestima, la re valoración de su propia cultura y saberes ancestrales, la motivación por capacitarse en sus labores artesanales, en temas de economía familiar y social, y de participación comunitaria, entre otras.
