In this study, we conducted an experiment aimed at developing an effective method for measuring the useful fieldof view when driving while maintaining free visual (eye and head free) conditions with completely unobstructed headand eye movements. In the experiment, the mental workload was changed in a stepwise manner in order to test thehypothesis that the useful field of view becomes narrower as the mental workload (MWL) increases, as well as to verifythe accuracy of the proposed method. The results confirmed the validity and accuracy of the proposed method formeasuring the useful field of view under completely unobstructed visual conditions
