Between 1914 and the late 1960s, the Champion Fibre Company published an internal newsletter, called The Log, to share news about the Canton mill, the community, and its employees. The water was lapping at the spi llway and only a foot belo--w the top of the d am ~ It was not particularly beautiful today; but we could see that in another two months it would again become a spot both lovely and peacefuL vVe walked across the dam looking for bare spots to be reseeded and examined the sides of the spillway for washing. There would be no du cks this spring to sail the pond each day, steamboat fashion. T he idea was accepted with great enthusiasm and in 1921 the ''Y" fndmtrial Basketball League was formed.
