Add to ORKGBangor House Coach Stable, operated by Albert Wheelden, located at 215 to 221 Main Street, Bangor, Maine. Sanborn insurance maps and Bangor city directories indicate Wheelden operated the stables as early as 1895. The 1899 Bangor city directory advertises the stable as stylish conveyances of every description supplied for Parties, Business, or Pleasure Driving. In December 1909 a terrible fire destroyed the stable. A history of this fire was written by Wayne E. Reilly of the Bangor Daily News in 2009. This informative, and sad, story can be found by a simple Google search.
