Lieutenant General Ronald Blanck D.O., 1967 was one of the first D.O.s to practice medicine as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army, and the first D.O. to become a flag officer in the U.S. Army. After the Vietnam War Blanck became Chief Resident at Walter Reed, and later, held various positions in the office of the Army Surgeon General before returning to Walter Reed as Commander.
