POTENCIAL DE BIOCONTROLE DE Rhizoctonia solani DO FEIJÃO-CAUPI

The potential of nine isolates of Trichoderma spp. was evaluated for the in vitro biocontrol of Rhizoctonia solani, the etiological agent of the thread blight in cowpea. The pathogen and the antagonists were challenged in Petri dishes (Ø = 90 mm) containing the PDA culture medium. The mycelial growth of both antagonist and pathogen was measured daily and the Mycelial Growth Rate Index (MGRI) and the Mean Radial Growth Inhibition Percentage (MRGI) of R. solani colony was determined in comparison to the control treatment. The experimental design was completely randomized, with ten treatments, including the control, in five replicates. Data were submitted to analysis of variance using the F-test (p-value≤0.05) and the Scott-Knott test (p-value≤0.05), using the SISVAR program, version 5.6. The results showed that 33% of the isolates of Trichoderma spp. (T41, T51 and T63) showed greater potential for in vitro control of R. solani, reducing the MGRI of the pathogen colony by 40%. The isolate T41 obtained a higher average of PICR and T41, T51 and T63 caused the highest MRGI on the first day of evaluation. The isolate T41 caused the lowest MGRI and the highest mean of daily MGRI, thus considered as a potential biocontrol agent of R. solani.Keywords: Web blight; Antagonism; Trichoderma spp.; Vigna unguiculate.O objetivo foi avaliar o potencial de nove isolados de Trichoderma spp. no biocontrole in vitro de Rhizoctonia solani, agente etiológico da mela em feijão-caupi. O patógeno e o antagonista foram confrontados em placas de Petri (Ø = 90 mm) contendo o meio de cultura BDA. Foram medidos diariamente o crescimento micelial do antagonista e do patógeno e determinados o Índice de Velocidade de Crescimento Micelial (IVCM) e o Percentual de Inibição do Crescimento Radial (PICR) médio e diário da colônia de R. solani, em relação à testemunha. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente ao acaso, com dez tratamentos, incluindo a testemunha, em cinco repetições. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância aplicando-se o teste F (p-valor≤0,05) e o teste de Scott-Knott (p-valor≤0,05), utilizando-se o programa SISVAR, versão 5.6. Os resultados mostraram que 33% dos isolados de Trichoderma spp. (T41, T51 e T63) apresentaram maior potencial de controle in vitro de R. solani, reduzindo em 40% o IVCM da colônia do patógeno. O isolado T41 obteve maior PICR médio e os isolados T41, T51 e T63 provocaram o maior PICR no primeiro dia de avaliação. O isolado T41 provocou o menor IVCR e o maior PICR médio e diário, apresentando-se desta forma, com agente de biocontrole potencial de R. solani.Palavras-chave: Mela, Antagonismo, Trichoderma spp., Vigna unguiculata
