NECTÁRIOS ESTIPULARES EM Monnina exalata A.W. BENN (POLYGALACEAE)

Nodal glands are found in one third of the Polygalaceae genera and have valuable taxonomic, ecological and evolutionary significance. In Brazil, they occur in five of the eleven genera already registered The origin of the glands has been the subject of investigations on whether or not they originate stipulated. This study investigated a structure and structure of the nodal glands of Monnina exalata A.W. Benn. For this, samples from normal regions were fixed and processed according to the usual methods for light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. In the field, to verify the presence of glucose in the secretion, was used Glyphyte Plus that allowed to classify like nodal glands like extraflorais nectaries (EFNs). By means of serial anatomical cuts of the nodal region, it was observed that the nodal NEFs have their origin in the ends of the leaf trait, what defines them as stipulated EFNs. Stipulated EFNs, in longitudinal section, show unstratified epidermis; Nectariferous parenchyma with round cells, cell wall and dense protoplast; it was also observed the presence of an orbicular orifice connecting the nectariferous tissue with the environment to which the nectar will be secreted. The origin stipulate in nodal glands is an unprecedented data for Moninna.Keywords: Plant anatomy, secretory structures, Polygalaceae.Glândulas nodais são encontradas em um terço dos gêneros de Polygalaceae e possuem grande importância taxonômica, ecológica e evolutiva. No Brasil, ocorrem em cinco, dos onze gêneros já registrados. A origem dessas glândulas tem sido alvo de investigações sobre possuírem ou não origem estipular. Este estudo investigou a origem e estrutura das glândulas nodais de Monnina exalata A.W. Benn. Para isso, amostras de regiões nodais foram fixadas e processadas de acordo com os métodos usuais para microscopia de luz e microscopia eletrônica de varredura. Em campo, para verificar a presença de glicose na secreção, usou-se Glicofita Plus que permitiu classificar as glândulas nodais como nectários extraflorais (NEFs). Por meio de cortes anatômicos seriados da região nodal, observou-se que os NEFs nodais têm sua origem nas extremidades do traço foliar, o que os define como NEFs estipulares. Os NEFs estipulares, em secção longitudinal, apresentam epiderme uniestratificada; parênquima nectarífero com células arredondas, de parede celular delgada e protoplasto denso; também foi observado a presença de um orifício orbicular conectando o tecido nectarífero com o ambiente para qual o néctar será secretado. A origem estipular em glândulas nodais é um dado inédito para Moninna.Palavras-chave: Anatomia vegetal, estruturas secretoras, Polygalaceae
