Challenges in Veterinary practices and the problems they pose

Veterinary medicine is one of the hardest professions to succeed in. Veterinarians often have a much harder time with diagnosis and treatment because of the diversity of their patients and the fact that their patients cannot tell them what is wrong. Just securing samples from “normal” adult patients for routine procedures presents a task many times more difficult than that of medical doctors. When dealing with bloodwork a hematology analyzer must have variable threshold capabilities for cellular sizing due to the significant differences in the size of erythrocytes from one mammalian species to the next. So, even though modern laboratory instrumentation and technologies that are used in human medicine are nearly all utilized in the veterinary-laboratory marketplace, the equipment must have the capability to distinguish between each species. This presentation will present the challenges that Veterinarians and Vet Technicians have to go through to diagnosis and treat the multiple species they deal with
