Creencias sobre el aprendizaje de las matemáticas en estudiantes de ingeniería

Mathematics contributes fundamentally to make the world more understandable and to solve various problems that improve our condition of life, however, there is a decline in the interest to learn mathematics. The intention of the study is to know the beliefs that the engineering students of the Higher Technological Institute of Champotón possess about the learning of mathematics and its importance for professional training. A study was made to engineering students in the final semesters of the race, to know their beliefs about mathematics, for this purpose the instrument developed by Caballero y Blanco [1] was used, consisting of 48 items distributed in 6 categories referring to the beliefs about mathematics. beliefs about the nature of mathematics and its teaching and learning, beliefs about oneself as an apprentice of mathematics, beliefs about the role of the faculty of mathematics, beliefs raised by the socio-familiar context, attitudes and emotional reactions towards mathematics and assessment of the training received in higher education in relation to mathematics. The results reflect the students’ own insecurities, as well as the influence of the social-family context, their expectations and the value of the teaching in mathematics received in the career.Las matemáticas contribuyen de manera fundamental a hacer más entendible el mundo y a solucionar diversos problemas que mejoran nuestra condición de vida, sin embargo, existe una declinación en el interés por aprender matemáticas. La intención del presente estudio consiste en conocer las creencias que poseen los estudiantes de ingeniería del Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Champotón ubicado en el municipio de Champotón, Campeche, México, sobre el aprendizaje de las matemáticas y su importancia para la formación profesional. Se realizó un estudio con alumnos de ingeniería del Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Champotón en los semestres finales de la carrera, para conocer sus creencias acerca de las matemáticas. Para ello se utilizó el instrumento desarrollado por Caballero y Blanco [1] conformado por 48 ítems distribuidos en 6 categorías referentes a las creencias sobre las matemáticas: 1) naturaleza de las matemáticas y de su enseñanza y aprendizaje, 2) uno mismo como aprendiz de matemáticas, 3) papel del profesorado de matemáticas, 4) creencias suscitadas por el contexto socio familiar, 5) actitudes y reacciones emocionales hacia las matemáticas y 6) valoración de la formación recibida en la educación superior en relación a las matemáticas. Los resultados reflejan las inseguridades propias de los estudiantes, así como la influencia del contexto social-familiar, sus expectativas y la valoración de la enseñanza en matemáticas recibida en la carrera
