A comprehensive examination of generational slang and how it can become a barrier within a professional field. Appalachian’s are known for their sense of pride, strong family ties, and firm beliefs. We are also known for helping our neighbors, standing up for what we believe in, and strong accents. This poster presentation will represent Appalachia’s rich heritage along with the cultural lingo. Through survey results you will be provided with common Appalachian terms. Video clips and sound bites will give you a glimpse into how specific words are pronounced by Appalachian’s. After learning about such terms you will be provided with the origin. You will then discover both the proper and Appalachian meanings of each term. Also provided will...
