This paper describes the sources and surface representations of vowel length in Shangaci, a Mozambican Bantu language. Unlike many other Bantu languages, Shangaci has both contrastive vowel length and automatic penultimate lengthening at the end of a phonological phrase. The paper discusses the effects of this unusual co-occurrence.Cet article décrit les origines et les réalisations des longueurs vocaliques en shangaci, une langue bantu du Mozambique.
