Dans les pas des Maîtres fous

International audienceSince December 2016, we have been working on the creation of a performance entitled Les Maîtres fous, in reference to the eponymous film by anthropologist and filmmaker Jean Rouch. This experience was for us the occasion of a singular reversal of roles: the first, an anthropologist, transformed himself into a performer, making films inseparable from the proposal; the second, an artist, adopted a position similar in some aspects to that of an ethnographer, producing writings about the performance in order to better understand the logic of the creative process. Looking back at the elaboration of this performance, situated at the crossroads of living art, cinema and ethnography, we will question the acting force not only of these inscriptions produced throughout the process alongside the acts that generated them.Depuis décembre 2016, nous collaborons dans le cadre de la création d’une performance intitulée Les Maîtres fous, en référence au film éponyme de l’anthropologue-cinéaste Jean Rouch. Cette expérience fut pour nous l’occasion d’une singulière inversion des rôles : le premier, anthropologue, s’est transformé en performeur, réalisant des films indissociables de la proposition ; le second, artiste, a adopté une position proche par certains aspects de celle d’un ethnographe, produisant des écrits afin de mieux comprendre la logique du processus de création. En revenant sur l’élaboration de cette performance, au croisement de l’art vivant, du cinéma et de l’ethnographie, il s’agira d’interroger la force agissante non seulement de ces inscriptions produites tout au long du processus mais aussi des actes à l’origine de leur obtention
