Kuria tone melodies

In this paper, we provide an overview of Kuria tone melodies, which are notable in the positions targeted by the melodic H, including the third and fourth moras of the verb macrostem. For some speakers, the moras of the word following the verb are part of the representation when the melodic H is assigned to the verb. We also discuss certain complications to the melodic system in imperatives and some negative verb forms, which involve differences in the way in which otherwise regular patterns of spreading apply and in the realization of the melodic H on the final vowel.Dans cet article, nous livrons une vue générale des mélodies tonales kuria, remarquables par les positions qu’occupe le H mélodique, en ce compris les troisième et quatrième mores du macrothème verbal. Pour certains locuteurs, les mores du mot qui suit le verbe font partie de la représentation lorsque le H mélodique est assigné au verbe. Nous traitons également de certaines complications que les formes verbales impératives et certaines formes négatives imposent au système mélodique, et qui comprennent des différences dans l’application des schèmes normalement réguliers de propagation et dans la réalisation du H mélodique sur la voyelle finale.Marlo Michael R., Mwita Leonard Chacha, Paster Mary.
