EnThe essay focuses on the portrait of Galateo that Cesare Brandi, a famous writer and art historian, traces in Pellegrino di Puglia, published in 1960. In this work, Brandi devotes a particular importance to the figure of Galateo, showing that he knows the masterpiece of the writer of Galatone, De situ Iapigiae, but also his other writings. Brandi is pleasantly impressed by some famous passages in which Galateo expresses his Greek pride and his aversion to the fate of Italy, at the mercy of foreigners.
