EnThe essay is based on the figure of Antonio De Ferrariis Galateo, in relation to Salento and particularly to the city of Nardò, where he completed his classical education. Nardò is the place in which the Duke Bellisario Acquaviva d'Aragona dominates. During the years Galateo dedicated to him some works in the style of letters. Among these letters there is the De Neophitis Epistle on the subject of marriage between a son of the Duke and a christiana nobella young girl. In this Epistle Galateo speaks of Jewish People, who were in Nardò, from immemorial time, and whom a large part of the essay is dedicated to. Galateo was of italo-greek descent and of sacerdotal status. He enriched his culture with the new cultural items of the Aragonese court and the pontanian Accademy in Naples, that he interpretated in original way, putting down the basis of modernity.ItIl saggio è incentrato sulla figura di Antonio De Ferrariis Galateo, in rapporto al Salento e, in particolare alla città di Nardò ove compì gli studi classici. A lui il Galateo dedicò degli scritti in forma di epistola nel corso degli anni, fra cui l'Epistola De Neophitis a proposito delle nozze di un figliolo del Duca con una fanciulla christiana nobella. Egli parla degli Ebrei, a cui è dedicata buona parte del saggio, presenti, da tempo immemorabile, nella città di Nardò. Galateo discende da antenati italo-greci e di rango sacerdotale. La sua cultura si arricchisce delle nuove istanze culturali e di pensiero a contatto della corte aragonese e dell'Accademia pontaniana, a Napoli, che rielabora in modo originale, ponendo le radici della modernità
