The objective of the present study was to study the potential of hydrogel as a target release system to the stomach. The hydrogel are composed of polyvinyl pyrollidone, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide), chitosan, glutaraldehyde, amoxicillin trihydrate and omeprazole with high mechanical strength and adjustable thermosensitivity. The chemical structure of the polymer may also affect the swelling ratio of hydrogels. They can exhibit dramatic changes in their swelling behavior, network structure, permeability and mechanical strength in response to change in pH or ionic strength of the surrounding fluid or temperature.
