Taiwan Kyokai (Association of Formosa) was founded in 1898. The purpose of the association was to give indirect aid to the management of Taiwan, which became Japan\u27s colony as the result of the Sino-Japanese war, as well as to give Japanese people information about Taiwan. Gen. KATSURA Taro, the second Governor-General of Taiwan, was elected the president.
