In recognition of the facts that for many years nonalumni contributed heavily to this campaign and that alumni could demonstrate their loyalty to the College in ways other than by contributing money to it, in 1982 the name was changed to the Annual Fund.279 The College has always depended in many ways upon its alumni, sometimes acting through their association, but more often acting individually.
