La ilustración en la estructura interna del libro. Libros ilustrados del siglo XVII en la Biblioteca Menéndez Pelayo

Escritura e Imagen.Books made in the XVII th. century are distinguished by a number of special characteristics which are easy to recognize: the front page, the preliminary pages, and the text printed inside the book. In this paper the author explains how prints, which became the most important way to illustrate books in that century, were printed and organized hierarchically into a formal structure. In the same way, the most representative illustrations of the different parts of the book are studied. The Baroque illuminated book will be the privileged instrument used by both the royal and the religious bodies for the transmission of different theoretical propagandistic topics for their needs whose diffussion became fundamental. Images were comoposed following very well defined iconographic patterns, as an instrument of conservative ideology. So, both their programatic and artistic features are considered in this paperLe livre du XVIIème siècle présente une configuration caractéristique qui le divise en une serie de parties clairement délimitées: la page de garde, les textes préliminaires et le texte de l'ouvrage. Dans ce travail, nous étudions comment les dessins graves, l'illustration du livre imprimé de cette époque, s'intégrent et se hiérarchisent dans cette structure formelle, et quelles sont les illustrations les plus représentatives de chacune des parties signalées. En outre, le livre baroque illustré sera un instrument ideal par lequel tant le pouvoir royal que le religieux essayeront de transmettre des contenus théoriques qu'ils leur importaint de difuser parmi les lecteurs.
