Etris.- This variety is claimed to be a seedling, and it may be one, but it resembles Gano so closely that there seems to be no reason for keeping the varities distinct. Prof. Stinson, in his bulletin, seems to think that the two varieties are identical. Etris is grown to a considerable extent in Benton County. Evans.-(Walkers Sweet).- Originated near Lowell, Benton County, Ark, on farm of Martin K. Walker. This is a sweet apple of considerable merit; a good keeper. Fruit medium to large, oblate, conic; cavity medium, irregul- ar deep; stem medium to long, stout; basin large, regular, slight- ly furrowed, abrupt; surface smooth, yellow, splashed and striped with a very thin covering of red, giving the apple a light color; dots gray, scattered; flesh yellowish firm, rather tought; mild subacid to sweet; late winter. Extra.- (Extra Ben Davis).- Fruit large; color yellow striped with red; qualify good; season late. Gill (Gills Beauty).- Originated by Mr. Wyatt Ooffelt, near Mason's Valley, Beaton County, Ark. I was told by Mr. Gore, of Springdale, that this was one of the four valuable seedlings ob- tained from the seed of one Ben Davis Apple. The three others were the Coffelt, Martha Washington, and Western Beauty. Although this apple is somewhat subject to the Bitter Rot, it is a good bearer, and from what experience I have had with the variety I am confident that it will prove valuable.
