While suicide is a compelling phenomenon that has experienced substantial growth on a global and national scale, social studies on this topic are scarce. It is imperative to conduct more research on the subject, and to reflect and discuss viable analytical perspectives. In this article, I examine the social dimension of self-inflicted death in Río Grande and Cantioc in Chiapas, Mexico, through an ethnographical approach.
