Biomass is an easily accessible, renewable and environmentally conscious form of resource. Utilizing renewable organic matter for energy production is a growing worldwide trend. Forest plantations that provide generous quantities of uniform, locally available raw materials from a variety of fast growing deciduous wood species are strongly promoted. In this study we have examined the financial feasibility of a short rotation energy forest plantation in the Kunság region. Both the EU and Hungary provide incentives for the establishment and dissemination of bio-energy producing facilities.
