He served as the Boys’ Work secretary at the San Francisco (Calif.) Japanese YMCA Branch. In 1942, he was interred at the Government Internment Camp in Utah, where he helped to create YMCA-based programs to help address the social, educational, and recreational needs of the Japanese-Americans held in the camp.
