DraftAnnexe not includedThe research analyzed Lebanese faith-based organizations (FBOs), towards determining what impact they have on public policy dialogue and formulation in Lebanon, and what their capacity is to mobilize public opinion in favour of political agendas. More importantly, the research examined the understanding, practice and attitudes of FBOs in relation to governance, gender equality and citizenship. Framing a definition of an FBO was a complicated and complex process, passing through several mutations over the span of the project. While there are no written rules codifying discrimination against women in FBOs, unwritten rules and practices have a powerful effect of “keeping women in their places.
