This study aims to describe Modern Uyghur modal categories as function oriented. In the thesis, the modality was evaluated as the semantic category that reflects the subjective attitudes and opinions of the speaker. The concept of mood consist of gramatical morpheme that indicate modality. The morphemes discussed in the thesis are classified in the headings, which are the basic modal fields, the volition, possibility and necessity. In addition, the volitional moods are divided into four sub-headings: imperative, optative, voluntative and hypothetical mood.
