This study aims to describe modality in Azerbaijani Turkish and to examine the modal markers together with their functions. In the thesis, modality is handled as a semantic category that reflects the speaker's attitude, knowledge, expectation, doubt, necessity, desire, adequacy towards the proposition. Based on modality classifications, epistemic, deontic and dynamic modality were evaluated as basic modal fields. Also in the epistemic modality, remote possibility – fiction, possibility, certainty, unlikely / impossible, predictive reality; command, permission, obligation, necessity, condition in deontic modality; in the dynamic modality, the meaning fields of wish – desire and competence are examined.
