In the diploma thesis we introduce all definitions, theorems and conventions that are important for the presentation of cutting and transformation of polygons and for proving the theorem on the equidecomposability of polygons. We look at different types of dissections and methods of folding, and present some examples and counterexamples. As an interesting point, we also consider an example of the problem of the quadrature of a circle
