The purpose of this dissertation is to optimize the Friction Stir Welding (FSW) of similar and dissimilar shipbuilding aluminum alloys by integrating reinforcing nanoparticles into the weld seam and then evaluate the results through the study of the microstructure of the weld nugget and through mechanical and microhardness testing.The AA5083 (in the H111 strain hardened condition) and AA6082 (in the solution heat treated and artificially aged T6 condition) alloys were used.
