A short article about online photographic sharing, education and 'success' for the Photographers' Gallery's new 'Unthinking Photography' platform. Watching photography tutorials online, it is clear that the subject of the photographic image is secondary to the construction of photography itself - as a culture, practice, theatrics. I explore the role of narcissism and social reproduction in online photographic tutorials, and Youtube videos showing people unboxing photographic monographs. The latter represents a strange twist in the tale - seemingly we can now film, share and witness the act of the reception of the photographic image as it it were spectacle itself
