Migration and multiculturalism are key factors of social change in Italy. The in-creased number of adolescents and young people belonging to the second genera-tion of immigrants is one of the most important issues. In the context of a global-ised, complex and fluid society, the presence of second generation migrants, most of whom were born in Italy, has accelerated the crisis in the concept of Italian identity – understood to be traditionally formed from the unity of religion, language, race and territorial belonging.
