INTRODUCTION [The plants of the genus Phyllanthus (Euphorbiaceae) are widely distributed in most tropical and subtropical countries, and have long been used in folk medicine to treat kidney and urinary bladder disturbance, intestinal infections, diabetes and hepatitis B [1].
