A derivation is given for the partition coefficient of a trace element between hydrothermal solution and solid solution when the hydrothermal solution is ideal and the solid solution is strictly regular. Application to M. Lagache's experiments (1971) on the distribution of cesium between hydrothermal solution and alkali feldspars solid solutions. The theory accounts for the general trend of the distribution, but cannot afford a precise estimation of the partition coefficient.
