Natural rhombohedral carbonate crystals were studied by X-ray transmission topography and chemical etching methods. Several types of defects were observed and described. These are : precipitates, the location of which is linked to single-crystal morphology ; dislocations often in series or bundles ; growth faults with simple crystallographic orientations. It is noted, moreover, that the hemihedral twin of dolomite exists with a measurable misorientation. These defects result in interference fringes and particular contrast effects on X-ray topographs.Des cristaux de carbonates rhomboédriques naturels ont été étudiés par les méthodes de topographies aux rayons X par transmission et d'attaque chimique.
