The interbedded phosphorites and cherts of the uppermost Amman Formation of the Tel es Sur (TES) area have been investigated and compared with the nearby economic phosphorites of Ruseifa. The strata are arranged in several shallowing upward cycles deposited in shallow subtidal, intertidal and supratidal (emerged) environments. The TES area, and subsequently the Amman-Hallabai structure, was a high from uppermost Cretaceous times and appears to be related to the folding of the Syrian Arc system.Les couches interstratifiées de phosphorites et de cherts de la partie supérieure de la Formation de Amman dans la région de Tel es Sur ont été étudiées et comparées aux phosphorites de l'exploitation minière voisine de Ruseifa. Les couches sont organisées en plusieurs cycles formés de dépôts correspondant à une succession de milieux de sédimentation : subtidal, intertidal et supratidal (émergé). Au Crétacé supérieur, la région de Tel es Sur, appartenant à la structure de Amman-Hallabat, formait un haut-fond qui paraît avoir été lié au plissement du système d'Arc Syrien.Abed Abdulkader M.
