Edward Dicey and William Gladstone on the Prospects of Occupation of Egypt

In the article, the author raises the problem of problems of the colonial policy in society, reflected in the discussion of E. Dicey and W. Gladstone in 1877 in the magazine “Nineteens century” on the occupation of Egypt. The author comes to the following conclusions: this dispute reflected the basic views of the British society of that period, as well as influenced the colonial policy of Great Britain in the last third of the 19th century.В статье автор поднимает проблему обсуждения в обществе проблем колониальной политики, отраженную в дискуссии Э. Дайси и У. Гладстона в 1877г в журнале «Найтинс сенчери» об оккупации Египта. Автор приходит к выводу о том, что данный спор отражал основные воззрения британского общества того периода, а также повлиял на колониальную политику Великобритании последней трети XIX века
