PENGARUH TERPAAN MEME POLITIK DI MEDIA SIBER TERHADAP TINGKAT PARTISIPASI PEMBICARAAN POLITIK PADA REMAJA (STUDY PADA MAHASISWA FISIP JURUSAN ILMU KOMUNIKASI ANGKATAN 2016)

Meme is communication media platform that uses visuals in the process of delivering its messages. The technological development has turned meme into a medium of political communication or widely known as political memes, it’s a new media platform that combines visuals and added text containing messages that has political elements in them. Political memes are becoming political tools with a purpose of delivering political messages into the public. The research question from this thesis is whether there is an influence and how much is the exposure of political memes can influence the extent of youth participation in the political discussion on cyber media. Therefore this research aims to determine whether there is an influence between political memes exposure to the level of youth participation in the political discussion on the cyber media. This research uses the theory of S-R that says there is a reaction to the stimulus that given by the mass media. This study uses quantitative research methods with associative types. The data collection techniques are by using a questionnaire with simple random sampling, then performing a simple linear regression test with the number of respondents as many as 70 people. The coefficient of determination (R2) produced by the regression model influences the exposure of political memes to the level of interest in the participation of youth political discussion in cyber media by 0.126, This means that the results of data presented by the interest in participation in youth political discussion in cyber media can be illustrated by the exposure of political memes up to 12.6%, therefore the contribution of the exposure of political memes toward the level of interest among youth in political discussion in the cyber media is up to 12.6%, meanwhile the rest of 87.4% contributed by other factors that will not be discuss in this research. Based on the calculation of the Empirical Model of Linear Regression, the coefficient of exposure to political memes is at 0.419, this indicates that the exposure of political memes has a positive and significant influences on the extent of interest in participation of political discussion among youth on cyber media
