Lorentz force sigmometry, "LOFOS," is a novel technique with three different configuration setups for measuring different physical properties of molten metals such as electrical conductivity, viscosity, and density. However, this thesis focuses on measuring the electrical conductivity of the solid and molten metals using the so-called mobile LOFOS setup. The interaction of an electrically conducting fluid with an externally applied magnetic field leads to a force that acts upon the magnetic field generating system and drags it along the flow direction[Thess:2007].
