This paper presents the data collected through research conducted by the author and dealing with the use of new media as a useful instrument in teaching English as a foreign language (EFL). The thesis proposes the definition of different kinds of media, including their positive and negative aspects, and the impact they may have on children. Media competences and media education, whose presence in the primary school curriculum should be enhanced, are also discussed.
