This thesis investigates the media activities in English that Croatian EFL students are engaged in outside the school. The media activities which were investigates include watching films with/without English subtitles, watching movies with Croatian subtitles, using YouTube, playing video games, listening to radio (Spotify, Deezer), online reading, talking via Internet, digital communication etc. The aims of this study were, first, to determine the frequency of student'engagement in out-of-school media activitieas in English; second, to find out which strategies the students use when involved in media activities in English; and third, to investigate the effects of age and gender on the frequency of exposure to English.
