Pyrocarbon/TiC nanoscale-multilayered coatings have been processed onto Hi-Nicalon fibres as interphases for SiC/SiC composite materials. The P-RCVD method used in order to prepare these interphases combines pressure pulsed CVD (P-CVD) and reactive CVD (RCVD). The latter involves carbon consumption for the carbide coating growth through diffusion phenomena. The evolution of carbide stoichiometry profile through the layer has been shown by electron probe micro-analysis.
