The Glenn Gildersleeve Papers contains materials relating to his career as a music educator and state administrator of school music. He lived February 1894 through March 1970. Born in Wayne, Nebraska, Gildersleeve studied music at Nebraska Wesleyan University and Teachers College, Columbia University. He was an active member of the Music Educators National Conference (MENC), now known as the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), serving on the Research Council and the Board of Directors, and was also the President of the Eastern Division.
