This article identifies the relationship between violence and economic growth in Colombia, through a review of the literature on studies that explain the conflict, considering traditional studies and trends. Also, an analysis of the empirical antecedents that explain the economic growth through the violence and the armed conflict is developed. The results are based on econometric techniques, where the effect of the variables that are associated with the violence in the economic growth is estimated, as well as they determine that in Colombia the violence is explained by an institutional weakness and affects the economy when the Social agents make decisions by performing criminal acts, such as kidnappings, homicides and crimes against propert...
