A contrastive study of metaphors in Spanish and German is presented. For such analysis, an original Spanish text (the essay “Miseria y esplendor de la traducción”, written by José Ortega y Gasset in 1940) and their respective German translations (by Gustav Kilpper, 1956, and Katharina Reiss, 1977) were used.
