Os sistemas de proteção social em Portugal e no Brasil: uma agenda para o Serviço Social

The Welfare State and Social Work face challenges imposed by the crisis of capitalism. This article focuses on social protection policies in Portugal and Brazil, with the aim of analyzing them, taking into account the inherent specificities of each context, identifying the convergent and divergent aspects of social protection in the period between 2008 to 2012. The research is of a deductive nature and is oriented in a comparative method, with the procedure of documentary research, using content analysis of documents on the subject, from both countries. It develops a picture of the dominant scientific notions on this matter, based on a Social Work that aims at an emancipated society.A crise do capitalismo cria novas necessidades sociais que colocam ao Estado-Providência e ao Serviço Social alguns desafios. O presente artigo tem como objeto as políticas de proteção social em Portugal e no Brasil, com o objetivo de analisá-las tendo em linha as especificidades inerentes a cada contexto, identificando os aspetos convergentes e divergentes no âmbito da proteção social, no período compreendido entre 2008 a 2012. A pesquisa é de natureza dedutiva e orienta-se num método comparativo, com procedimento de pesquisa documental com recurso à análise de conteúdo aos documentos oficiais sobre o tema, de ambos os países. Elaborou-se um retrato das noções científicas dominantes sobre esta matéria, com base num Serviço Social que visa uma sociedade emancipada.
