Somalia: disipar la niebla después de la masacre

Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, has suffered the most horrifying terrorist attack in its history. While the massacre is still taking stock, it is timely to conduct a more moderate analysis of the situation in the country: the progress achieved, the enormous challenges ahead, and –mainly– the real threat that the jihadist group Al Shabaab still poses. Now, we must wait until the thick fog this despicable attack has left is dispelled to prepare responses that put an end to decades of chaos, violence, humanitarian emergency and misgovernment in Somalia.Mogadiscio, la capital de Somalia, ha sufrido el ataque terrorista más cruento de toda su historia. Cuando aún se está haciendo balance de la masacre, resulta oportuno realizar un análisis más templado de la situación del país: los avances conseguidos, pero también los enormes desafíos que enfrenta, y —principalmente— la amenaza real que todavía representa el grupo yihadista Al Shabaab. Ahora, debemos esperar a que se disipe la espesa niebla que ha dejado este deleznable atentado para sopesar respuestas que pongan fin a décadas de caos, violencia, emergencia humanitaria y desgobierno en Somalia
