The following historical research about childhood gives us an approach to know about the abandoned children in the town of Tarifa during the reign of Fernando VII, concretely and more specifically to the situation of the wet nurses. All of this has been done through the analysis of the documentation found in the records of Council and the files of the Provincial Council of Cadiz, which provide the primary sources that allows us to know its history about these people at hard times. The traditional care system was based on the children’s moving to the town of Conil. Independence War and the first Liberal reformations came to change that model.
