After the defeat of Athens in the Peloponnesian War, it is confirmed the loss of military-political balance in Greece, for the benefit of Sparta. The political dominance that treasured the peloponnesian city from 404 BC until 371 BC, led some authors to call this period �Spartan hegemony�. However, military expansion to Asia and deep political intervention in internal affairs of other Greek cities by Sparta, led to other authors to use the term �imperialism�, or even Spartan Empire.
